The eDreams Mitja Marató Barcelona by Brooks 2024 achieves its participation record and closes registrations with 28,000 bibs sold

Barcelona’s half-marathon becomes the biggest 21.097 km race in Spain and the second with more participation in Europe

For its 2024 edition, the eDreams Mitja Marató Barcelona by Brooks has reached the 28,000 bibs sold. Organised by the Barcelona’s City Council and RPM SPORTS, this race has already closed its registrations five weeks before its celebration next 11th of February.

A figure that beats the record of participation of the race, set until now in 2020 with 23,000 participants, and that exceeds the total number of registrations of the 2023 edition by 7,000. Thus, the eDreams Mitja Marató Barcelona by Brooks becomes the half-marathon with more runners in Spain and the second one with more participants in Europe, only behind the Berlin’s Half-Marathon (Germany).

Initially, the organizers’ plan was to make the sold out by reaching the figure of 25,000 bibs sold. But, in spite of having achieved the participation objective and due to the high demand for the next edition of the Barcelona’s Half Marathon, the organization decided to extend the registration the last week of December with 3,000 bibs more, that is to say, up to a maximum of 28,000 participants for this 34th edition of the race.

“As organizers, our top priority is that all runners can live the great experience of running a half-marathon in a city like Barcelona. That they enjoy being able to run in a great town, closed to traffic and 100% involved with them. They can feel like the real protagonists of this city for one day, and achieve their goals in a great circuit such as the one offered by the eDreams Mitja Marató Barcelona by Brooks. That’s why, at the end of December, after having debated the issue internally and to listen to the requests that were coming in through different channels, we decided to increase the stock by 3,000 more registrations, reaching 28,000 bibs sold and setting the record of participation in the race. Next 11th of February, all the participants will run in the biggest half-marathon in Spain and the second biggest in Europe”, says Mauro Llorens, director of the eDreams Mitja Marató Barcelona by Brooks.
