Check out the course analysis of the eDreams Barcelona Half Marathon by Brooks 2025, by Nacho Cáceres

he 35th edition of the eDreams Barcelona Half Marathon by Brooks will take place on February 16th. This race, for many reasons, has become a key event in the athletic scene, both nationally and across Europe, and it is a must-attend for thousands of runners. In 2025, 30,000 participants will once again enjoy a fast and unique route through the streets of Barcelona.

WHAT MAKES THIS RACE SO ATTRACTIVE?

Without a doubt, its circuit is designed to make runners fly: long straight stretches, very few turns (none of them complicated), minimal elevation, a high density of participants, and ideal running temperatures, all of which will help achieve great times. If we add to that the charm of spending a special weekend in Barcelona, the result can only be excellent.

COURSE ANALYSIS

Start: Parc de la Ciutadella

The start is located on Avinguda Picasso, next to Parc de la Ciutadella. After the first right turn, runners will take Avinguda Marquès de l’Argentera and will be able to run smoothly for the first two kilometers until they reach the Columbus Monument.

At this point, they will encounter the only topographical difficulty of the course: Avinguda Paral·lel, with a slight incline between kilometers 2 and 4 that, being early in the race, will hardly affect performance.

Kilometer 5: Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes

After overcoming this first phase, runners will face the longest stretch of the course (2.6 km), passing through kilometer 5. This is also the fastest part of the course, as between kilometers 4 and 8 the gradient is favorable, allowing runners to maintain a fast pace and enjoy the race.

Between kilometers 7 and 8, the course passes very close to the starting area, where the public gathers at the Arc de Triomf to cheer, providing an extra boost of energy to the participants.

Kilometer 10: Gran Via / Avinguda Prim

From here to kilometer 10, the course remains easy: wide streets, good asphalt, and optimal conditions to maintain a steady pace without unnecessary fatigue. Passing kilometer 10 allows runners to check their condition and assess their chances of achieving their goal.

Kilometer 15: Avinguda Diagonal

From Gran Via, runners will head to Avinguda Prim (kilometer 12), maintaining a good pace until they reach Avinguda Diagonal, a crucial section of the race. Here, there is a 5 km out-and-back stretch, passing through kilometer 15 before tackling the decisive part of the course.

From there, the route heads toward Passeig de Garcia Faria, an equally fast and flat section, with no turns. Only the wind could influence speed if it blows strongly.

Kilometer 20: Vila Olímpica / Carrer Marina

At kilometer 18, runners will face a small 20-25 meter climb before entering the final stretch. Once that is overcome, the course runs parallel to the sea until it reaches one of the most iconic areas of the city: Vila Olímpica. Here, runners will take Carrer Marina (kilometer 20), with the Sagrada Família in the background, preparing for the last kilometer.

The final straight is located on Carrer Pujades, where the crowd, fully engaged, will push runners until they cross the finish line.

CONCLUSION

The eDreams Barcelona Half Marathon by Brooks 2025 is one of the fastest and most attractive events in the European calendar. Its course, designed to facilitate great times, along with the festive atmosphere and the incomparable setting of Barcelona, make it an unmissable event for any runner looking to challenge their limits and experience an unforgettable time.
