Benson Kipchum Barus conquers Prague

The Kenyan wins the marathon of the Czech Republic with a great record of 2h07'07

The Kenyan Benson Kipchum Barus, with a record of 2h07'07 won last Sunday the International Marathon of Prague, ahead of his compatriots Kenneth Mburu Mungara (2h07'36) and Samuel Kiplimo Kosgei (2h07'47). These are spectacular records, but that didn't reach the record of the Czech race (2h05'39, achieved in 2010 by Eliud Kiptanui, the seventh best world record).

In feminine category the triumph was for the also Kenyan Lydia Cheromei, who ended with a time of 2h22.34, new women's record. Yeshimebet Tadesse, second with 2h28.33 and Belainesh Zemedkun, third with 2h32'15, were with Lydia in the podium of a race where participated more than 8.000 runners.

Runners who, in their visit to the Expo Sports of the International Marathon of Prague, showed a great interest for the Barcelona Half Marathon. A delegation of the race of Barcelona was present during the whole weekend in Prague to promote the Half Marathon, which each day has more followers.
