Barcelona, 30/01/2020- The eDreams Mitja Marató de Barcelona, which will take place on February 16th, has announced that it is Sold Out (23,000 runners) for the second year in succession. Not only that, it reached this figure two weeks earlier than the previous edition and has increased the number of entries from 19,000 to 23,000. This figure smashes the previous record for the Barcelona half-marathon (the 19,000 mentioned above) and confirms its position as the half-marathon with the highest number of entries in Spain.

The 30th edition of the race also shows some other record numbers. For the first time on Spanish soil, a half-marathon will have more than 7,000 women (to be precise, 7,200) i.e. 31% of the total. Unstoppable growth by our women athletes in the city!

Another record smashed by the eDreams Mitja Marató de Barcelona is the participation of foreign runners, reaching 45% for the first time. Likewise, the number of countries rises to 122, well above the 103 in the previous edition. Apart from Spain, the most represented countries are France (1,902), the UK (1,591), Germany (920) and Italy (835), not forgetting such exotic countries as Jamaica, Brunei, Burkina Faso, Cambodia or Guatemala, to mention just a few. Our planet was never so well-represented in the race!

The eDreams Mitja Marató de Barcelona, which has renewed its Gold Label status granted by World Athletics (former IAAF) to the best road races in the world, confirms its growth in every edition. Everything is in place for Barcelona to enjoy a great running fiesta!
