THE EDREAMS MITJA MARATÓ DE BARCELONA GOING FOR RECORDS

17/01/2019

-With 2 weeks to go before the registration deadline, over 16,000 entries have been received

-The most feminine half-marathon, with 33% of women entered

-Our planet has never been represented so well: runners from 101 countries

More than 16,000 athletes have already registered for the eDreams Mitja Marató de Barcelona, which will be held on February 10th. With 20 days to go until the registration deadline, the number of entrants is already above the figure for the last edition and it looks highly likely that historic record of 17,800 runners.

One of the striking things is that women’s participation continues to grow, with no ceiling in sight. At present, the percentage of women entered currently stands at 33%, a figure that has not been achieved to date.

What will clearly beat all previous records is the number of countries represented in the race. It is already over 100 (101, to be precise), with the highest number of entries from France (1,593), followed by the UK (1,187), Germany (645) and Italy (597), not forgetting other exotic countries such as Costa Rica, Cape Verde, the Antarctic, Saudi Arabia, Cameroon, Malaysia, Mauritius or the Virgin Islands, just to mention a few. Our planet has never been so well-represented in the race!

One result of this interest from abroad is that as we go to press the number of foreign runners is even slightly higher than that of Spaniards. However, the number of local competitors is likely to be higher in the weeks ahead.

Remember that the deadline for entries is 4 February 2019, or if the number of 19,000 runners is reached first.
